Promotional Messages Across the World # 4

This advertisement caught my eye in the streets of Florence, where I spent my free day with some friends.

This message definitely caught my eye, because of the different images that contrast each other with the bright colors. This also caught my attention, because there is no direct message on the advertisement. It's very subtle and leaves you wanting to know more.

After researching what "Estate Fiorentina 2017," I found out that it is a group that lists all of Florence's summer attractions and events that are open to the public to attend. Therefore, I think the targeted audiences is young people who are interested in art and cultural events. It also targets families who are looking for something to do during the summer, or tourists who want to experience some of Florence's creative scene.

There aren't very many words to communicate a message on this advertisement, but the words that are on there are very straightforward. It tells you the website and the year of the events schedule and that's it.

The images communicate the most out of this advertisement. There are ten different images that portray an animated and abstract depiction of different artistic performance and mediums. The colors are very bright and fun and really make you think of summer and Italian creativity. The images definitely persuade the audience to learn more about what they're doing, because they're detailed and vague.

This message is culturally different, because it is specific to the Italian summer culture. In America, you don't see a lot of advertisements with no description, especially advertisements that are promoting event schedules for the summer. I feel that simplicity and intrigue embodies the Italian way of promotional media that is very different from American advertisements.

I really enjoyed this advertisement, because I feel like it appeals to a younger audience like myself with its abstract design. I think the animation and colors really bring it all together, and it made me really curious to know what it was promoting.
